Some people think students should study the science of food and how to prepare it. Others think that school time should be used in learning important subjects. Discuss both views and give your opinion?

People have different views regarding the importance of the
science
and preparation of
food
at
school
. While some believe that
this
subject should be added to the curriculum, others oppose that idea as they think
students
should only study essential
subjects
. In
this
essay, I will discuss both views and present my personal opinion. On the one hand, the
science
of
food
and cooking could benefit
students
in various ways.
Firstly
,
this
subject plays an important role to provide
students
with a more health-conscious approach to their diet.
This
is because by studying
food
science
,
students
could have a better understanding of their
food
components and how they impact their bodies.
Hence
,
students
could make wiser choices regarding their daily diets, which can improve their health and well-being.
Secondly
,
this
subject could help
students
to lead an independent life.
Students
who are proficient with culinary skills would know the proper way of treating
food
to feed themselves without depending on readily available dishes at homes or processed foods at convenience stores.
On the other hand
, important
subjects
need to be prioritized.
To begin
with,
although
food
science
prepares
students
with essential soft skills and helps improve their health, it still occupies
students
' time and put pressure on them.
Consequently
,
students
would have less time to relax or take part in curricular activities, resulting in increased stress.
Moreover
, the primary goal of
school
education is to best prepare
students
for the university entrance exams, which cover the knowledge of core
subjects
. If
food
science
is included in the curriculum, it could make
students
less focus on these compulsory
subjects
;
hence
, might worsen university examination result. In conclusion,
although
many people advocate introducing
food
science
to the
school
curriculum as it helps
students
be more aware of healthy eating habits and live a more independent life, I believe that
school
time should be distributed to core
subjects
because they are more important to
students
’ academic future and
food
science
could put more burden on
students
.
