Some People think that the government should be responsible for crime prevention, while others believe that it is the responsibility of the individual to protect themselves. Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
Crime
is one of the vigorously discussed issues in many countries
. When it comes to the responsibility for crime
prevention, a segment of society is convinced that individuals
should protect themselves. Others, however
, believe that the government should be largely responsible. I agree with the latter view because only severe punishments and the prevalence of law can effectively tackle this
issue. The following paragraphs will discuss both opinions and explain my view in detail.
To commence, police cannot control everything and everyone, therefore
, individuals
should take preventive measures to ensure their safety. For instance
, people should install burglar alarms in their houses in case of burglary, or lock their bags in department cells while going to shop to prevent robbery. Similarly
, businesses should invest in security. Subsequently
, crime
awareness can effectively prevent many grievous consequences.
However
, people are limited in their actions. If criminals
do not have any fear, they can simply break locks and commit crimes. Hence
, governments should implement severe punishments and control that laws are upheld. As a result
, harsh consequences of the crime
can deter potential criminals
from breaking laws. Take, for example
, Middle East countries
. The crime
rate in Middle East countries
is very low because they have strict laws and punishments for each type of crime
including the death penalty in some of the countries
. While in India, the law is lenient towards criminals
. Which unfortunately gives more freedom for criminals
.
To conclude, although
individuals
should take basic preventive measures to ensure their safety, I believe that the government should play a key role in combating the crime
. Governments and individuals
should put their best feet together to address this
issue.Submitted by shoira.shakirovna on
