Traditions are about the past and innovation is about the future, and it has been argued that we need to let go of traditions for the sake of progress. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this? What role should traditions have in our lives? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

In
this
day and age, where changes have become an unavoidable event in human life, there are polarizing views on whether people have to sacrifice their roots to embrace the modern changes. I strongly disagree with the aforementioned statement, and
this
essay will elaborate more on my point of view, as well as explaining how tradition takes part in our
lives
.
To begin
with, forgetting the
traditions
means simply detach people from their true selves. By
this
I mean, if we removed the cultures and heritages from a community for the sake of innovation, not only is it will cause confusion in how they can live their
lives
gracefully but
also
, it will destroy them slowly due to the loss of their life direction.
For example
, the entrance of modern economy and trade activities to an isolated tribal community will trigger them to destroy the surrounding environment in order to build a modern economy facility,
such
as a factory or agricultural land, without any consideration of natural habitat that they protected before.
This
condition will happen if they were not holding on to their cultures and roots, which is living harmoniously with nature.
Consequently
, they will ruin their
lives
by letting go of their graceful
traditions
.
Moreover
, the role of
traditions
, not only is as a token of celebration or reminder to our past, it
also
becomes unwritten guidance on how we should do our
lives
. Without the
traditions
, we will not have an example of how we should deal with our current problems.
For instance
, the tradition of how an older sailor avoids a certain time to go the ocean will give an example to their descendants on solving the dangerous time to go fishing.
Thus
, it is important for us to hold on to our heritage. In conclusion, letting go of our
traditions
for the sake of future progress is an imprudent act, due to the risk of losing our guidance and our
lives
. As
such
, I personally disagree with the above-mentioned options, as I believe that a tradition of the past is the best teacher for nowadays believers.
