The chart below illustrates the percentage of
houses
 owned and rented in England from 1918 to 2011. If we closely look at the chart, overall there is a consistent upward trend In owned
houses
, whereas there is a downward trend in rented ones.
Furthermore
, the chat shows us that only in 1971 both rented and owned accommodations were at the same level of 50 %. Now let’s look at the
houses
 owned at the beginning, it was stood at 22 % and rented accommodations were at 75 %, which is quite high. So,
this
 continued of rising in owned
houses
 and declining in the rented accommodations at an almost constant rate( An average increase of 10 % during 1918 to 1953). The only year in which they levelled up was 1971 where they were stood at 50%.
On the other hand
, rented accommodation at the beginning was very high at 75% as compared to owned accommodation which was at 22 %, but gradually it decreased and ended up to 40% in the year 2011.
In addition
. So, the conclusion is that people followed the trend to buy their own
houses
 rather than giving them for rent, which I think because of a strong urge which had developed in people to have their own house.
