Information technology is changing many aspects of our lives and now dominates our home, leisure and work activities. To what extent do the benefits of information technology outweigh the disadvantages?

Information
technology
is all around us and has become a crucial part of our lives. IT has improved every aspect of our daily tasks and it connects us even more. Of course, there are two sides to every coin. Excessive dependence on
technology
leads to an unhealthy lifestyle and isolation.
However
, I personally believe that the benefits of IT outweigh the disadvantages.
To begin
with, ever since IT has become
such
a hit, life became easier.

if you're planning on cooking dinner you don't even have to go to the store. All you need to do is go to the
internet
and with two clicks order all of the ingredients needed for the meal. After 30 minutes they'll be delivered to you and you can cook without even stepping a foot outside.
Moreover
, if you don't even feel like cooking you can simply order cooked food, and
this
is just a small part of all of the advantages the
internet
gives us. Prior to the huge dominance of
technology
, work had been tedious and hectic.
Nevertheless
, nowadays the
internet
gives access to numerous resources which can help with work.
Additionally
, now companies can hire people from all around the world thanks to the
internet
. All
that is
required is a computer and a connection to wi-fi. What is more, is that IT helped with globalisation. Now more than ever we're connected with each other, we have friends from all around the globe and we can keep in touch with families through our smartphones. We don't have to send letters anymore and wait 3 weeks and sometimes even 3 months to receive a response.
For instance
, we just need to write our message and send it through a chat app and we'll have an answer in a couple of hours.
Moreover
, we have instant access to the entertainment industry. Shows, games, music are just one click away from us. We've
also
seen a rise in streaming platforms
such
as Netflix, HBO etc. which proves that IT is developing rapidly and it's here to say for the long run.
On the contrary
, it's only fair that I
also
mention some of the disadvantages that IT can bring. It's clear that someone can easily get addicted to gaming or surfing the net.
This
can lead to unhealthy life because rather than doing some kind of physical activity, people are often glued to their smartphones, TV or computers.
Furthermore
, it can push us to isolation. Even though IT keeps us connected to the world, we can still lose human contact. These days we're more and more paying attention to our phones and computers and have no time for face-to-face conversations.
Thus
, making people disconnect from the real world more and more. In conclusion, I believe there are some disadvantages to modern
technology
.
However
, the benefits mentioned above definitely outweigh the negative aspects. Of course, we should always be careful when spending time on the
internet
and occasionally take breaks from it.

Support ideas with relevant, specific examples

Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively.

Examples, if used properly, not only help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ but also for ‘Coherence’.

When giving examples it is best to put them after your main idea or topic sentence. They can be used in the middle of supporting sentences or they can be used to start a new sentence. There is no rule for where exactly to give examples in essays, logically they would come after your main idea/topic sentence or just after a supporting sentence.

Linking words for giving examples:
