In many countries, prison is the most common solution for crimes. However, many think that better education is the most effective way to prevent people from committing further crime. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Crimes
are one of the social issues faced by all countries worldwide. Some
people
believe that prisons are the best
solution
for
crimes
.
However
, others argue that education is the most effective way to prevent
people
from committing
further
crimes
. In
this
essay, I will discuss both views thoroughly before making a reasonable conclusion. On the one hand, putting criminals in jails has been a common exercise in many countries to deal with
crimes
. Imprisonment is believed to provide a short-term
solution
for stopping
crimes
due to its immediate effect on the other lawbreakers in society.
For example
, if a thief was captured and sent to prison by the police, it would deter other
people
from undertaking a similar activity as it would result in incarceration.
Consequently
, it would create fear among individuals and force them to think twice before conducting
crimes
.
On the other hand
, educating
people
, especially young children, on why performing crime activities is bad would have a lasting effect on shaping their characters.
As a result
, it would provide a long term
solution
for society in reducing
crimes
. By examining the above arguments, I think both policies to deal with
crimes
complement each other.
Although
imprisonment gives a short-term
solution
, a country might
also
be benefited from educating their young citizens about
crimes
so it will develop their integrity as adults.
