Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing
this
letter in connection with your advert published in an Australian magazine.
Let me start by pointing out the reasons I would love such
an experience, which is the fact that I will be able to improve my English by living in an English-speaking country. In addition
, there is the incredible possibility to live abroad and get to know another culture.
With regards to my qualifications for this
opportunity, I have recently finished my studies in childhood education. In this
way, I am qualified to assist your child not only by taking care of her/him but also
by helping in any schooling matter.
Finally
, during my spare time in Australia, I would like to visit some of the country's main attractions, as well as experience some of your amazing cuisines. Please let me know if you need any further
information or references.
I am looking forward to a positive response at your earliest convenience.
Yours faithfully,
Christina SmithSubmitted by gislainemelega on

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
