are one of the most important institutions. Whether
universities
should only provide job-related curricula has caused a heated debate. In my view,
universities
should not only focus on “job”, they should play a larger role. Those
people
who support
universities
should only educate
students
on useful subjects believe that most
students
aim to gain particular skills and up-to-date knowledge in the university. Because they want to can enter better corporations and achieve more attention from their employer through their techniques so that they can achieve a higher position and earn more money. In
this
age where technology keeps leaping forward,
graduates
without
such
skills will be abandoned by society and it will even be hard to find a job. Other
people
claim it has benefits if
students
have the freedom to select their lessons. They may study some subjects they deeply favour
such
as maths and philosophy, what they want is to obtain pure knowledge. They will be motivated to think independently and get more inspiration. In my opinion, all
universities
should give priority to job-related lessons and ask
students
to study them compulsorily. If not, the
graduates
are likely to find decent jobs and the unemployment rate will rise. But, the more critical responsibility of
universities
is to engage
graduates
to equip them with the ability of thinking and analysis. Almost all employers prefer that
graduates
can think outside the box. The
universities
must set some lessons for what
students
can study as their interests because
people
are willing to research and analyse what they favour and are more likely to be more creative. In my opinion, both teaching methods are complementary to each other. They should be combined tightly to culture more creative
people
not only robots.
