Dear Sir,
My name is Will Adam and I am a citizen of New Zealand. Recently, I have read an advert in an Australian magazine called Sherlock which is published every month in my country. I am writing
this
letter to express my interest in your advertisement.
Firstly
, I would like to introduce you to my profession. I am a writer and in the next
month, I will visit Australia for my novel writing. Since I am going to publish a novel on children, I thought this
job will be very helpful for me as I will have a chance to be with your six-year-old baby for half a year. Indeed, I will be occupied with my work, however
, I would not have to go out for anything and I thought, I would be the best candidate for this
job. Moreover
, I like children and I can keep them happy at any time.
Furthermore
, I am planning to visit some schools in my free time to know more about children which will be helpful for not only my work but also
for this
job.
Please revert me back if you find my profile suitable for this
position.
Your
Faithfully,
Will AdamCorrect your spelling

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
