International tourism has brought enormous benefits to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the environment. Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Nobody is a stranger to the fact that international tourism has attracted large benefits to lots of places. Some people argue that there is concern about its impact on local species as well as the environment. To my way of thinking, there are both pros and cons to
this
view in equal measure. There is no shortage of reasons why, as far as I can see, there are advantages to
this
phenomenon. In the
first
place, it contributes to the local economy. If tourists spend money on food, accommodation, transport and so on,
for instance
, it creates thousands of jobs for locals. It stands to reason,
therefore
, that their quality of life and standard of living is improved. As well as the government charges more taxes, so they have more money to spend on essential facilities like schools, hospitals and so forth. Be that as it may,
however
, the downside of
this
development, as far as I am concerned, is just as big. For one thing, many commercial companies cause damage to the preserved areas. They clear away trees for building fancy hotels and roads in order to make money from tours. As a consequence of
this
, many animals and birds do not have a space to live, which leads them to extinct.
For instance
, pandas are rarely seen in the wild because they are protected in zoos in China. Turning to my own experience, the way things are when it comes to
this
matter in my Country, China, mirrors very strongly the state of affairs the world over. My home city of Lhasa is a textbook example of
this
point. Here, many local animals like antelopes and snow leopards are endangered due to the herding and the government's initiatives in building infrastructures like train lines and roads. These distractions have destroyed their inhabitants. At the end of the day, tourism is a vital industry for the economy,
however
, it needs to be socially and environmentally responsible.

Include an introduction and conclusion

A conclusion is essential for IELTS writing task 2. It is more important than most people realise. You will be penalised for missing a conclusion in your IELTS essay.

The easiest paragraph to write in an essay is the conclusion paragraph. This is because the paragraph mostly contains information that has already been presented in the essay – it is just the repetition of some information written in the introduction paragraph and supporting paragraphs.

The conclusion paragraph only has 3 sentences:

  • Summary
  • Restatement of thesis
  • Prediction or recommendation

Example:

To summarize, a robotic teacher does not have the necessary disciple to properly give instructions to students and actually works to retard the ability of a student to comprehend new lessons. Therefore, it is clear that the idea of running a classroom completely by a machine cannot be supported. After thorough analysis on this subject, it is predicted that the adverse effects of the debate over technology-driven teaching will always be greater than the positive effects, and because of this, classroom teachers will never be substituted for technology.

Start your conclusion with a linking phrase. Here are some examples:

  • In conclusion
  • To conclude
  • To summarize
  • Finally
  • In a nutshell
  • In general
