You recently completed a course and you borrowed a book from your teacher which you couldn’t return in time. You would like to return the book now. Write a letter to your teacher and say – What book was it? – How helpful was the book? – Explain why you couldn’t return it in time.
Hi Dear Barati,
I am writing in connection with completing the course recently I have done and you helped me with borrowing the book called practical light and colour.
it was really helpful and I would like to thank you for it. I learned so much, especially in chapters 4 and 8 that explain how light can effect on
any surfaces. I could improve my lighting knowledge and how to paint without references.
However
I regret to confirm that I cannot take it back this
Saturday afternoon we settle it, and I need to come to you today and return it. because out of blue my brother called me to take off his children while he is out.
I would appreciate it if you accept it to return the book today.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Structure your letter
A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:
- A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
