You have seen an advertisement in an Australian magazine for someone to live with a family for six months and look after their six-year-old child. Write a letter to the parents. In your letter -explain why you would like the job -give details of why you would be a suitable person to employ -say how you would spend your free time while you are in Australia

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing with regard to your advertisement in the magazine Australian Days, which I read and I believe I would be fit for the
job
.
Since I moved to Australia, I have been working with a number of children's organisations and community schools, but now I am looking for a dedicated childcare job
. Actually, the thing is I love being surrounded by children, and I do not have kids of my own. Therefore
, I have always dreamt of full-time childcare employment.
As I mentioned above, I have 5 years of experience working around children, and I believe I am super easy to jell with. If I talk about my education qualifications, I completed my post-graduation two years back in Specialised Childcare, so I know how to engage them well. Apart from that, I am an empathetic person, and you can, of course, take a detailed review from my past employers about my quality of work.
In my free time, I like to visit NGOs and orphanages because of my attachment to kids. I believe they are the purest souls and I get an immense amount of positive energy when I am around them. It would be my pleasure if you could consider me for the job
, and I can assure you I am fit to take care of your six-year-old very well.
I would request you consider my job
application and schedule an interview. I am hereby attaching my resume, so you can go through my work experience.
Yours faithfully,

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
