Every year millions of people move from the countryside to the city putting increasing strain on the urban environment. What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?
In the past decade, urbanisation has increased significantly. With each passing year, our
cities
are becoming more and more crowded which is putting a lot of pressure on the urban resources. This
essay will elaborate on the possible causes for the migration and will outline actionable solutions for the same.
There are primarily two key reasons for this
movement. Firstly
, it is believed that the urban towns or the metro cities
provide better employment opportunities, which is also
true to a larger extent. Not only that, even the pay levels are significantly higher in developed towns. Gurugram, for instance
, has become a hub of Multi-National Corporations in a very short span of time, and people
from the nearby small towns have migrated to the metropolitan for better career prospects. Another reason is the presence of better schooling and healthcare facilities. Since every person wishes to provide a safe environment to their family and hope that their kids have a better future, they prefer to live in a
close proximity to these amenities.

Although
there are several reasons for people
flocking the metropolis, there are some solutions to alleviate this
problem. First
of all, the government should work on the development of rural areas, and one way is to create a special economic zone in these places. It will eventually attract various companies to set up their offices or industries, which will subsequently
generate employment, make people
financially stable and improve the living standard of that community as a whole. In addition
to this
, the government should utilize tax-payer's money to provide better educational and medical facilities in every town or village in the country, irrespective of the level of commercialization at that place. Delhi government, for example
, has started a concept of community clinics in and around the suburbs of the National Capital Region, which has solved many health-related issues for the people
who earlier could not even afford their basic treatment.
In conclusion, undoubtedly, nowadays, many people
prefer to leave their hometown in the countryside and move to the concrete jungle, urban cities
. The more people
migrate to metro cities
, the higher the strain on their infrastructure. There are, however
, a few government-led initiatives which can solve this
problem to a much greater extent and will thereafter
reduce the environmental and other economic issues in developed cities
