You are starting a new business and need to build a website. You have a friend who works for an IT company who you want to help you. Write a letter to this friend. In your letter • describe your new business • ask your friend to help you build the website • say how you will thank your friend for his/her help.
Dear Grace,
How are you? It’s been so long since we’ve been able to catch up.
I want your help with the website for my new venture. As you might have heard, I’m
finally
opening my own nail salon. It will be on Fard Drive, right beside the pet shop. It’ll not only offer the services typically offered by other nail salons but also
spa services for the hands and feet.
The shop is still under construction, and while waiting, I’ve decided to start creating its website. I already have the design and basic layout, but I’m thinking of adding more features, and I’m wondering if you can lend me your expertise. I want to add an online booking and an admin page where we can add new designs to display and also
handle the reservations.
Given the requirements, can you give me your quote on this
? I know you’ve told me before that if ever I need your service, you’ll do it for free, but I insist as this
is not a simple task.
Anyway, I think it’s better to talk about the details in person. Please let me know when you are available to meet up.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
All the best,

Structure your letter
A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:
- A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
- The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
- A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)
When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.
All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
