Having more international sporting events (such as the olympic games) may promote world peace. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement ?
It is believed that the possibilities of achieving
world
peace are more likely if there were more sports
events
organized on an international level. This
essay will argue that sport can absolutely contribute to improving the relationships between different countries
around the world
.
Some people might not agree with the fact that sports
contests can help curb the existing conflicts between world
's nations. In other words
, the conflicts between countries
may worsen if they compete against each other because obviously deep historical or political problems can affect the athletes and supporters leading to violent, unacceptable acts. For example
, there were some football fans riots in stadiums reported which were related to the unstable relationship between the competing countries
. Hence
, some people hold that international sports
events
would not help achieve peace in the world
.
Despite this
stressful relationship, such
competitions are usually held in different global locations which will definitely help strengthen the collaborations and cooperation between the participating countries
. Sports
faithful supporters will travel to assist in these events
allowing them to discover and experience new cultures. Besides
, in these class-world
manifestations, the positive sportive spirit will dominate and conflicts are often put aside. For instance
, in the football champions league, fans from different nationalities can find themselves supporting the same team which establishes a special bond between them. Consequently
, leaders and lawmakers can learn from this
brotherhood that is
seen and promoted by the sports
sector.
In conclusion, this
essay argued how global sports
events
may indeed help promote world
peace. In my opinion, although
this
might be the cause of some violent behaviours among fans, it is absolutely an opportunity for people to embrace each other differences and put the tension aside and enjoy sports
altogether.Submitted by majdouline.azouzoute on
