in England and Wales who live in a rented house and an owned one between 1918 and 2011. Overall, the ratio of households who live in owned accommodation steadily goes up, which rise from 22% to 69% between 1918 and 2001, while the percentage of

in rented houses shows the opposite trend that falls to 31% in 2001 from 77% in 1918.

, the proportion of these two groups of figures became equal at 50% in 1971. It shows the biggest gap between the number of these two kinds of
