To whom it may concern,
I was on holiday the other week to Macau and
while
there, my laptop
was stolen. The laptop
is a MacBook Pro and was detailed in my insurance policy beforehand. Additionally
, my AirPods, which were next
to the laptop
, are also
gone now.
The event occurred at a local cafe. I left my bag, laptop
, and earphones at my table while
I went to the bathroom and when I returned several minutes later, they were all missing. I asked the cafe owner but he did not notice someone taking them and their security camera is out of order. However
, We reported the incident to the police.
I have attached the police report associated with the incident and hope that you will be able to reimburse me based on my policy as promptly as possible. Thefts while
on holiday are covered by my membership. Please make a direct transfer to the associated account.
If you have any further
questions, do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone.
Best Regards,

The Greeting
Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.
Always start an informal letter in the ways:
- Dear + name
- Hi / Hello + name
‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.
For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:
- Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
- Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
