You recently visited a local restaurant with your family and had a very good meal. Write a letter to the editor of a local newspaper. In your letter ● explain where the restaurant is ● describe what you ate in the restaurant ● say why you would recommend the restaurant to others

I am writing
this
letter to you to tell you about the
restaurant
where I had a good meal there. I recently visited a local
restaurant
with my family and we had a great meal together. There is a
restaurant
near our house.
This
restaurant
has a lot of chefs from around the world. I ate a lot of delicious, tasty and different foods. On my first trip to
this
place, I found that meals immediately melted in my mouth.
Also
, their waiters were very kind and polite. I have never seen the service that their waiters gave us on that day.
For
this
reason, I would recommend the
restaurant
to others.
Moreover
, I am planning to go there next weekend with my friends to celebrate my close friend's birthday. I think that you should write about
this
restaurant
in your newspaper.
Then
other people can find easily
this
place. I would certainly be interested in hearing from you soon. If you need any other details, please feel free to write to me. Thank you for your time and consideration. Yours sincerely, Dream

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
