Parents are sending their kids, aged six to seven, to primary school. While this has been happening in many places previously, as both parents work and nobody is at home to look after their children. But allowing kids to go to school is in trend even at an early age, because of single families.
Oftentimes, the study of English is prioritised over the study of domestic languages in education institutions, which might lead to the extinction of a large number of them. Albeit the importance of a mastery of English for a society cannot be understated, the protection of regional languages through state-run education and support is paramount, too.
Being able to receive proper education is considered as a human right, including in Indonesia, however, there are still many children, especially from disadvantaged families and areas away from the city who do not have access to education. Therefore, I strongly agree that universities and authorities must lend a helping hand to this population.
Some people argue that learning a foreign language in order to improve their education and skills for job opportunities. I strongly believe, that learning in a country where the language is more makes it faster to learn, for many it may be too expensive or stressful to study abroad.
