The graph below shows percentages of types of waste that were recycled in a town between 2000 and 2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.
The bar chart compares the
proportion
of recycling for the four
types of waste in a town in the years 2000, 2005 and 2010.
It is clear that
2010 saw an overall
rise in the proportion
of all four
types of waste recycled. While
metal was by far the most recycled material in general, the figures for plastic were relatively the lowest.
In 2000, the proportion
of all four
wastes was roughly the same, at more or less 10%. Five years later, the percentage of metals more than doubled, from about 12% to around 28%.Increases can also
be seen in the percentages of recycled paper and plastic, each by about 3-5%. However
, the one and only slight decrease occurred in the figure for cans (about 1%).
By 2010, the figures for all four
over-mentioned wastes increased sharply. 40% of the metal was capable of being recycled. The proportion
of cans reused even tripled, reaching around 35% in 2010. The proportions of plastic and paper rose to 25% and 29% respectively.Submitted by xiexue1223 on
