The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity.
The diagram illustrates the process of electricity manufacturing by utilizing geothermal energy in a power plant. Looking from an
overall
perspective, this
entirely man-made process has five major stages, starting with pumping cold water
down underground and ending up with electricity production by a generator.
Initially
, cold water
is stored in a rectangular container and then
pumped down through an injection well, which is deep 4.5km under the earth. Subsequently
, cold water
travels through the underground hot rocks located in the geothermal zone, to be heated up and transformed into hot water
. Afterwards, hot water
is pumped up through the production well into a condenser, where it is condensed into steam.
The steam produced from the condenser goes through a pipe to spin the turbine, which is connected to a generator by an axle. Eventually, the generator covert the rotation energy to electricity and distributes it to the grip.Submitted by Hein Htet Aung
