You recently bought a piece of equipment for your kitchen but it did not work. You called the shop but no action was taken. Write a letter to the shop manager.

Dear sir, I am writing to lodge a complaint about the Kenwood boiler I purchased at your outlet
last
week. As you know, there was a 40% discount on home appliances over £40, and you will remember the land in the brown you picked up the
last
brown kettle as you sold it to me personally. Unfortunately, on getting home I realised that the steamer would not come on. I have called the shop severally to know a good time to return the kettle.
However
, my efforts have been abortive. I realise
this
will be inconvenient to you, but very much hope that, given the circumstances, you would be prepared to allow me to get a full refund of the amount paid.
Furthermore
, I recommend a full team be made available to attend to customer requests and enquiries via email and telephone. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours Faithfully, Ponmile Alabi

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
