The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The graphic illustrates how is
electricity
powered by geothermal energy in a geothermal power plant.
The overall
process of generating electricity
can be split into 5 key points.
The first point
is cold water
, which should be pumped down to 4.5km deep underground, it should be injected until it's ready to heat which is the second key point
. The third point
is waiting for the water
flows through a distance of the geothermal zone(hot rocks) naturally until it's ready to use. The following fourth point
is pumping the hot water
up into a condenser which is built on the ground to condense the water
into steam. The last
step is driving the turbine by the steam from the condenser to power the generator to produce electricity
, which can hence
be transmitted to thousands of households through an electrical tower.
To summarise, the method of producing electricity
by geothermal power is to use the heat feature of hot rocks underground to heat up cold water
, then
use the hot water
to drive an electrical generator to yield electricity
