You recently organised an all-day meeting for your company, which took place ina local hotel. In their feedback, participants at the meeting said that they liked the hotel, but they were unhappy about the food that was served for lunch. Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter • say what the participants liked about the hotel •explain why they were unhappy about the food • suggest what the manager should do to improve the food in the future.

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing
this
letter in order to express dissatisfaction about the food items served by you at a meeting. Let me explain my situation in detail below. So, I arranged an all-day meeting conference for my organisation at your renowned hotel on the 1st of May 2023. I would like to highlight that the participants liked the hotel in terms of cleanliness and service. They appreciated me for choosing
this
location for the meeting because the setup was good, and we did not face any challenges with regards to the mike, audio and visual settings.
However
, the food service at the hotel was very disappointing.
For instance
, the entire main course was changed without prior notification and consent.
Moreover
, it was too hot
while
serving so we took longer to eat, and
this
caused a delay in our tight schedule.
Further
, the noodles were so spicy that none of the participants were able to consume them. Owing to the above, as a piece of advice, I would request you to kindly provide us with a notice in advance in case of any changes in the menu.
Also
, the items served must definitely be warm and not hot. I suggest you have all the dishes at a medium spicy level so that they are edible to most people. I urge you to look into
this
as soon as possible because I have another round of meetings coming up in the next week, and
this
time I do not want to have any concerns. I remain at your disposal for any questions or concerns. Yours faithfully, Kathleen Holst

Word Count

IELTS says that you should write a minimum of 150 words in writing task 1. If you go under word count you will lose marks in task response.

A very long letter will not give you a higher band score.

Aim for between 160 to 190 words in writing task 1. This will ensure a concise letter and will be realistic in terms of time management. You have only 20 minutes to write the letter and you need around 5 minutes of planning time, so you will not be able to write a long letter in 15 minutes.
