The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries.
The two given graphs illustrate the global
water
use
for different purposes and how Brazil and Congo consumed water
in the year 2000.
Overall
, there is an annually increasing tendency in water
consumption worldwide and agriculture accounted for the major usage. A quick glance at the table reveals that Brazil’s water
consumption was much higher than Congo’s.
Looking at the details of the line chart, in 1900, 500km3 of water
was spent on global agriculture, while
the amount of water
used for industry and homes was just one-fifth of that amount. There was a threefold increase in agricultural water
use
during the latter half of the 20th century, from around 1000km3 in 1950 to approximately 3000km3 in 2000. Meanwhile, the rising trends of industrial use
and domestic use
were much slower. More specifically, by 2000, the water
use
for industry had been under half as much as that for agriculture and domestic water
use
had only reached about 500km3.
In terms of the data about the water
consumption per person, Brazilian used significantly more water
than citizens in Congo, at 359m3 per individual. It is also
clear that the population of Brazil was much denser than that of Congo, and its irrigated land was 265 times as much as Congo’s.Submitted by phamthihongnhunght on
