The diagram below shows the water cycle, which is the continous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant
The given picture illustrates how the
water
cycle happens in nature, including both surface
water
and underground water
.
The water
cycle involves 4 different main stages, starting with evaporating water
and finishing with flowing to the sea.
In the initial step, the heat from the sun help increases the water
's surface
temperature, thus
, water
starts to evaporate into the air. The ocean contributes up to 80% of the total water
in the air. The water
vapour is then
condensed in the next step, which forms clouds when interacting with low temperatures in the atmosphere. After that, water
follows different paths to return back to the ground such
as snow and rain and falls to mountains and lakes.
At the next stage, there is a step called "surface
runoff" that makes surface
water
penetrate deep down into the ground before reaching the impervious layer. Groundwater then
follows the rivers to return back to the ocean. At the mouth of the river, this
water
flow helps to prevent saltwater intrusion before reaching the ocean.Submitted by minhnx2 on
