The diagrams below show the life cycle of a species of large fish called the salmon. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The figure illustrates the life cycle of
salmon
which is a kind of large fish step by step.
Overall
, we can see that salmon
’s life cycle has three main stages, and starts with the upper river
to the open sea.
In the beginning, salmon
eggs are put in the bottom of small stones among reeds in the upper river
where the water is slowly moving. This
phase has taken about 6 months. After that, baby salmon
which are called fry, their length is 3 to 8 centimetres, are going to the lower part of the river
where water has fast flowing, and they spent 4 years in that area.
Next,
after 4 years, the fries are becoming smolt, their length is 12 to 15 centimetres, go to the open sea, spend the rest of their 5 years in that and become adult salmon
. The length of the adult salmon
is between 70 to 76 centimetres. In the end, adult salmon
go into the upper river
for breeding and put their eggs on the small stones.Submitted by shahab_e2020 on
