You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. A good friend has just changed schools and is having difficulty fitting in and needs your advice. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter • make suggestions as to how they could make friends • suggest joining clubs, participating in school activities • give any extra general advice

Dear Billy, I've heard your complaints about finding difficulties adapting to your new school. I'm writing to help you deal with your concerns. Well, You know, making good friends would help a lot. Try to select some students that have the same interests as you, and befriend them. It's okay to make the first step, that only shows your confidence and hospitability, I'm quite sure they will be welcoming.
Also
, participating in some activities at school is a good option, too. Why not enrol in an art club? you like that! Or maybe reading clubs, you're keen on reading, you may meet some learners who you'd like to share your opinion with. In general, my advice is that you shouldn't be alone, you ought to make at least one or two friends. Be positive and keep going, You're more than capable. Keep me in touch. All the best, Faten.

Use a variety of complex and simple sentences

You should use complex sentences in your writing, but it does not mean that you should try to make all of our sentences complex.

‘Complex’ sentences are not actually very complex; they are just two or more simple sentences put together. Putting them together makes the essay more coherent and cohesive.

Examples:

I really want to study but I’m too tired.

I wore a warm coat because the weather was cold.

If action is not taken soon on climate change, global warming will get worse.
