The diagram illustrates several steps of how the construction of an igloo is carried out.
It is clear that
there are 5 main stages in
this
process, beginning with getting hard-packed
snow
in the mountain and ending with covering the entrance hole. As can be seen, during the first stage, after the hard-packed
snow
is collected, it is sawed directly by hand to become an ideal
snow
block with an appropriate size to be put at the base of the construction. Before all the cubes are assembled upward to form a circle, a saw is utilized to smooth the edges.
Next,
a hole is dug under the wall to create an entrance. To finish the assemblage, a slightly large block is put at the top of the igloo. In the fourth step, loose
snow
is shovelled and packed into all crevices. The inside
then
is flattened by hand and extra
snow
is shoved out.
Finally
, a hole is dug in the shape of the desired entrance before being covered by
snow
blocks to make a roof.
