The line graph compares the yearly annual costs of cell
phone
 and residential
phone
services
 between 2001 and 2010.
Overall

it is clear that
 the yearly expenditure on mobile phones witnessed a significant increase over the period shown,
while
 consumers spent less on

 calls at home year by year. In 2001, slightly more than $200 was spent by mobile
phone
 users,
whereas
 the figure was $700 for the expenditure on residential
phone
 calls. Since

, there was a downward trend in the amount of money spent on landlines but the cost of mobile

 rose steadily. It was in the year 2006 that the outgoings of both

 approached $550, marking the point at which the cost of mobile

 overtook that of residential

services
