The chart below shows the percentage of water used for different purposes in six areas of the world.
The pie charts illustrate the amount of
water
utilized for industry, agriculture and domestic purposes in six different regions around the world. Overall
, the presented data states that most countries in North America and Europe used their water
resources mainly for industries, while
African and Asian nations prioritized agriculture.
North American and European nations displayed unique patterns in the way in which the water
was distributed between sectors. Around half (53% Europe, 48% North America) of the available water
in these areas was used in the industrial business, in comparison with 5 % in Central Asia which had the lowest water
usage for this
sector. Both regions, however
, differed from other regions in their low percentage of water
usage in the agricultural sector at 32 % (Europe) and 39 % (North America).
The remaining four areas shared also
some important features. However
, when looked closely we could see that Sout East - and Central Asians and Africans, respectively used 81%, 88% and 84% of their water
resources in farming sectors. Whereas
southern Asia only allocated 71 % of the water
to agriculture, but in return managed to become the region with the highest percentage of water
usage in households at 19 %.Submitted by Farh on
