The various pie charts illustrate the percentages of four varieties of transport used in the UK in the years 1965,1985 and 2005. From an
overall
perspective, there is a visible increase in the usage of private
cars
over these years in the past.
Whereas
, other types of
vehicles
such
as public transport, recreational
vehicles
, lorry and various commercial type had shown a decrease in usage compared to that of
cars
. In 1965,
cars
and public
vehicles
were utilised in abundance to 40% and 25% respectively, the utilisation of
cars
increased by 15% more from
last
year to next in 1985, taking over 5% of the public transport system which reduced to 20%.
This
steady growth of
cars
shows even in 2005, to 60% and public means of travel to 22%. Recreational
vehicles
had a reasonable share of 15% in 1965, but it declined to 9% in 2005. The lorries and other commercial
vehicles
had the same amount in 1965 and 1985, had a downfall in 2005 to 10% which was majorly taken over by the
cars
.
