Overall
, it is noticeable that the number
of both openings and closures decreased. Although
considering several fluctuations, the decline of opened shops was more than closed ones over the mentioned duration.
To begin
with, the number
of openings in 2011 was 8500 but it dipped to only 4000 in 2012 and after that, it recovered and reached 6100 in 2014. whereas
the number
of closures was 6400 in 2010 and with some fluctuations, it almost levelled off with 6500 in 2014.
In addition
, the number
of closed shops fell to the minimum number
of 500, although
it reached 5100 in 2016 and finally
stood at the same number
in 2018. On the other side, the openings decreased to 4000 in 2015 levelled off in 2016 and 2017 and then
