The chart below shows the percentage of people who ate five portions of fruit and vegitables per day in the UK from 2001 to 2008.
The bar chart illustrates the
percentage
of
men
,
women
and
children
who consumed five portions of
fruits
and
vegetables
on a daily basis, between the years 2001 and 2008.
Overall
, in all three categories, the
percentage
of people increased up to a point after which the figures decreased. The
percentage
of
women
who ate
fruits
and
vegetables
in 2001 was a little more than 20%, which gradually increased until the figures reached an all-time high of roughly 31% in 2006.
However
, in the following years, the
percentage
was faced with a gradual decline.
Conversely
, the trend for
men
and
children
was quite similar but different from that of
women
. From 2001 to 2003, the
percentage
of
men
and
children
eating
fruits
and
vegetables
remained stagnant at approximately 16% and 12% respectively.
Subsequently
, the numbers gradually increased and plateaued at 26% in 2006 and 2007.
However
, in the case of
children
, the numbers gradually increased till 2007. From 2007 to 2008, the
percentage
of both
men
and
children
eating
fruits
and
vegetables
decreased. In conclusion, throughout the years, it can be evidently seen that the
percentage
of
women
ate more, followed by
men
and
lastly
children
.
To sum up
, all categories were faced with an upward trend, followed by a downward trend.
