The graph represents the percentages of
paper
and
cardboard
,
glass
containers
, aluminium cans and plastics recycled between 1982 and 2010 in a certain country.
Overall
, the recycling
rate
of all four materials showed a significant rise over the period.
Although
the
rate
of
paper
and
cardboard
and
glass
containers
had some fluctuations, both had the highest recycling rates
at the end
of the period respectively. In 1982, only
paper
and
cardboard
and
glass
containers
were recycled which were around 65% and 50% respectively. After four years, the
rate
of
paper
and
cardboard
increased slightly to 70% and
then
it dropped back to 65% in 1996. During 1990 – 1994, it experienced a rapid surge to 80% which was the highest
rate
during the given period.
However
, it declined from 10% until the year of 2010 to 70%. The
glass
containers
declined sharply to 40% in 1990.
Nevertheless
, it went up by 10% in 1994 and continued with a gradual increase to 60%
at the end
. Recycling of aluminium cans and plastics started in 1986 and 1990 and rates were below 5% at that time. From beginning to end, the percentage of aluminium cans rose dramatically up to around 45% but plastics increased gradually to approximately 9% in 2010.
