Many university students cannot find a job in their chosen profession. What factors may have caused this situation and what, in your opinion, should be done about it?
University
students
struggling to find a job
in their specialised fields is becoming more widespread around the world nowadays. This
essay will examine the causes of this
phenomenon, as well as
potential solutions for the problem.
One of the main contributing factors to this
issue is the lack of career guidance from a young age, namely in high school
. As students
are still living with their families, and not having to worry about living independently, it makes for a perfect environment to provide clear assistance in helping pupils find a career path that suits them best. Unfortunately, our current education system isn't making use of this
, which has created a whole generation of teenagers who still can't pinpoint exactly what they want to do in the future. Consequently
, this
will eventually lead them to pursue an unsuited career path, damaging their abilities to learn, thus
making them less desirable in the eyes of potential employers. As an example, a survey by The Washington Post has clearly shown how over 60% of participants wish they have
made a better decision regarding their degree back in high Wrong verb form

school
.
Despite this
problem, one of the measures that I propose is to increase training for teachers and counsellors to provide the best aid possible in a high school
setting. By doing so, we can alleviate situations where the students
themselves are still unsure about their own future. By showing them all the potential paths at the start, students
can make their own personal choice that they believe would suit them best, allowing for the correct choice of a degree from the beginning to happen. This
then
allows them to be willing to put more effort into their studies, learning critical skills that would prove to be useful later on when applying for job
positions. A good example of this
is Japan, where students
are asked and given individual counselling sessions regarding their future ever since middle school
, which culminated in 90% of the labour force doing a job
relating to their degree.
In conclusion, the problem of college students
being unsuccessful in finding a related job
post-graduate is unlikely to be entirely eliminated in the short term. However
, potential actions can be taken to resolve the issue in the long run, benefitting society.Submitted by yeshomeclass on
