The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030. Sumarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisions where relevant.
The graph below shows historical and forecast power consumption data from a report in 2008 in the USA from 1980 to 2030.
Overall
, there was an upward trend in all types. While
petrol and oil, coal, and gas accounted for the majority, renewable energy consisting of nuclear, solar/wind, and hydropower was just a minority.
In 1980, standing at 35Q, petroleum was the dominant used, more 15Q and 20Q than gasoline and coal respectively. This
figure fluctuated until 1995 before increasing sharply to 50Q in 2030. The first 35 years witnessed a marginal variation in the amount of gasoline at 20Q and an increase in the figure for coal from 15 to 25. Given the 5% rise in coal projection, the total of natural gas will stabilize until 2030, at 25Q.
On the other hand
, renewable powers shared similar levels in 1980, at 4Q. The quadrillion unit generated from nuclear grew marginally over 40 years and is expected to continue its uptrend to 7Q in 2030. Over the 30 years, there were continuous changes in solar/wind and hydropower. By the end of the period, solar/wind will be stable at 6Q, and hydropower will return to its original (starting) point by the end of the period.Submitted by cathyngo1512 on
