The bar chart below gives information about the percentage of the population living in urban areas in different parts of the world
The bar chart illustrates how the percentage of citizens living in
cities
has been changing over time in various parts of the world. Overall
, there seemed to be a common trend of citizens moving to urban centres over time in all the 5 above-listed countries.
In 1950, Africa and Asia had the lowest number of people
living in cities
whereas
in North America
and Oceania, more than half of the population
was residing in urban areas. Almost half of the Europeans and just below half of Latin Americans/Caribbeans were living in the cities
.
Moving to the year 2007, there was a significant rise in the number of people
from Africa and Asia who moved to cities
(more than double). Around one-third of people
in Europe and Latin America
/Caribbean shifted to the urban centres. On the other hand
, a smaller percentage of North American and Oceania residents were added to the cities
.
By 2050, this
transition seems to follow the same pattern where a majority of people
will be found in cities
especially in Europe, Latin America
/Caribbean, North AMerica
and Oceania where almost two-thirds of the whole Correct your spelling

population
will contribute to the urban population
. In the other two parts ( Africa and Asia) approximately three-fourths of the total population
will be moved to the cities
by 2050.Submitted by tghangas.tg on
