, it is clear that
polyester became the worldwide favourite type of textile, while
wool only constituted small numbers throughout the 35 years.
To begin
with, polyester rose significantly from around 5 mt
in 1980 to almost 70 mt
in 2015, marking the highest demand compared to the three other types. Similarly
, the cotton demand also
had a positive trend. It started at 11 mt
and always went up. Despite it slightly decreased to approximately 23 mt
in 2000, but it bounced back to about 33 mt
in the finished period.
On the contrary
, the cellulosic trend remained stable at 1 mt
for 20 years. However
, it managed to grow steadily and reached a peak at 9 mt
