The line graph illustrates the percentage of recycling materials in four different categories between 1982 and 2010.
Overall
,
it is clear that
the glass containers and paper and cardboard materials had significant portions,
whereas
the
aluminium
cans and plastics only shared small percentages.
To begin
with, there was a fluctuation in the paper and cardboard category. The trend began at around 65% in 1982, and it grew considerably and reached a peak at 80% in 1994.
However
, it continued to decrease to 70% in 2010, yet it was still considered the highest proportion compared to the others.
Additionally
, the glass containers had a smaller starting point, which stood at 50% in 1982. It declined to 40% in 1990, but it bounced back and rose steadily to 60% in the finished period.
On the contrary
, the
aluminium
cans category started to be recycled in 1986, which accounted for only below 10%. It climbed up and hit the pinnacle at around 45%
at the end
of the period.
Similarly
, the recycling agenda of plastics began at the same point as
aluminium
bottles.
However
, the process started in 1990, four years after the recycling of
aluminium
jars. It can be seen that its trend did not show a significant increase throughout the years, and it only managed to reach around 9% in 2010.
