The two images compare the current layout of the ground
floor
 of a house with a plan to redesign the same living space. It can be seen that the original design proposal involved a number of alterations to the ground
floor
 of the house, mainly in the central
hall
 area. There are no plans to modify the exterior walls or the entrance. The most noticeable shift from the existing to the proposed
floor
 plan is that there will no longer be a separate
hall
 area when the building work is completed.
This
 will be achieved by removing internal walls and doors between the
hall
 and living room,
along with
 the current stair and under-stair storage cupboards. In the absence of a separate
hall
 area, the proposed living room would
also
 contain a staircase to the first
floor
. To replace the current straight staircase, a fresh set of winding stairs will be installed in the corner of the living room. The inner door between the
hall
 and the kitchen will
also
 be replaced with a double door linking the kitchen to the current
