The chart below shows the number of adults participating in different major sports in one area, in 1997 and 2017. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram illustrates the sum of people who participate in several physical activities, which are Tennis, Basketball, Cricket, Golf, Swimming, Football and Rugby in the year 1997 and 2017.
Overall
, it can be seen that the participation level has significantly improved in the most recent year in a big portion of the sports, with the exclusion of Cricket which experienced a dramatic drop at the end
of the period.
First,
the most obvious rise can be shown in both Football and Rugby, having a similar trend, that started from around 30,000 in 1997 to slightly under 50,000 adults per year. Moreover
, the interest in Tennis and Basketball has also
risen with an additional 5,000 and 13,000 individuals counted respectively in the span of 20 years. Additionally
, there was a slight increase of 1,000 players in Golf as well as
a stagnant number in the sport of Swimming.
However
, the number of adults participating in Cricket seemed to subside quite clearly with the initial data of 25,000 people annually, only to end at roughly 5,000 in 2017.Submitted by mayfa.shadrina on
