The graph below shows the number of shops that closed and the number of new shops that opened in one country between 2011 and 2018. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, anomake comparisons where relevant.
The line graph gives data about the closures and openings of shops in a nation from 2011 to 2018.
Overall
, there are two key points to note. Firstly
, throughout the entire period, despite the first year and year 2015, there are more stores closed than opened. Secondly
, the statistics of newly opened outlets during the same span dramatically fell, particularly reaching a low in 2018.
Looking at the shop closures in more detail we can see that at the beginning of the period in 2011, nearly 6500 shops were shut up. In the following three years, this
figure fluctuated slightly between just under 6000 and just over 7000, before reaching a low point of merely 500 in 2015. However
, it sharply rebounded back to more than 5000 one year later before remaining reasonably stable until 2018.
Meanwhile, there was a massive decline in shop commerce from approximately 8500 in 2011 to only 3000 in 2018, which represents a decrease of virtually 5500 in eight-year time. By comparison
, the number of shops that were opened up was only more than that were closed in two specific years, 2011 and 2015, with a gap of roughly 2000 and less than 3500, respectively. This
means that in these two years, the sum of existing stores increased significantly.Submitted by fiona_19910501 on
