The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
The line graph illustrates the usage of energy by six fuels in the UAS from 1980 to the projections of 2030 in a 2008 report. Units have been measured in
quadrillions
.
In the first place, the consumption
of energy by petrol and oil began with 35 quadrillions
in 1980, increasing to nearly 40 quadrillions
in 2008. And it is projected to continuously incline to about 50 quadrillions
. However
, using coal and natural gas has been followed by it, having a similar upward over the period. The consumption
of coal (approximately 17 quadrillions
) was lower than natural gas at the beginning, while
in 2008, the use of both reached equally at about 23 quadrillions
. Interestingly, coal used is forecast to be nearly 30 quadrillions
, outweighing the natural gas consumed in 2030.
Of the remaining energy, nuclear is always used mostly, although
the use of three was approximately 3 quadrillions
in 1980. In other words
, nuclear consumption
has kept steadily rising to about 8 quadrillions
in 2008 and is forecast to 11 quadrillions
in 2030. As for the consumption
of solar/wind and hydropower, they have displayed similar trends increasing to 6 quadrillions
in 2008. By contrast
, using solar/wind (8 quadrillions
) is projected to surpass that of hydropower in 2030.
Overall
, the six fuels consumed all have shown upward trends between 1980 and 2008 as well as
in the future. Nevertheless
, the usage of petrol and oil always ranks first whether in the past or the future.Submitted by mashuhan55 on
