The bar chart below shows estimated world illiteracy rates by region and by gender for the last year. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar graph provides statistics about how many
men
and women
could not read and write according to
the certain regions for last
year.
Looking from an overall
perspective, it is readily apparent that illiteracy levels among females were higher than among males for all the parts given. The Arab States and South Asia showed the highest numbers, while
developed countries experienced the lowest rates of ignorance.
Moving to a more detailed analysis, the trend for highly developed regions of the world witnessed the lowest numbers for men
and women
respectively, around 1% and 2%. The discrepancy between males and females in Latin America and the Caribbean region accounted for about 3%, whereas
the same figures for East Asia and Oceania made up two times higher for women
at 20% than slightly under 10% for men
.
In terms of other parts of the world, the proportions for Sub-Sahara Africa and Arab States represented roughly similar data, roughly 30% for males and approximately 50% for women
. Illiteracy levels in South Asia had the highest numbers for both genders with 55% of women
and men
constituted 35% .Submitted by writingbhos on
