The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
The maps show the future plan of development that has taken place in Islip over a period of time. Presently, Islip's town centre is organized with shops lining both sides of the main
road
that runs horizontally through the town. To the north of the main
road
lies the countryside,
while
to the south, there is housing.
Additionally
, a school is located on the southwestern, and a park is situated on the eastern side, next to more housing. The most notable change is the introduction of a dual carriageway on the western side of the town, replacing part of the current
road
system. A bus station and shopping centre are to be added in the northwest area, improving transportation and commercial facilities. The main
road
through the middle is planned to be pedestrianized, creating a pedestrian-only zone surrounded by shops. Additional housing is planned with new housing developments replacing some countryside to the north and extending existing housing areas to the south. A car park is
also
arranged near the shopping centre. The park remains in the same location
although
its area will be reduced.
