The diagrams below show the life cycle of a species of large fish called salmon. Summaries the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The flow chart represents the cycle of the salmon from birth to death. To reach the adult stage, a salmon has to go through three major phases with differences in the living environment and grow in size.
In the early days of their lives, salmon eggs are born in the bed of the river and under the reeds, those are found in the upper river with slower water streams and take around 5 to 6 months to turn into fries. In the next chapter of the circle, the fries swim to the lower area and live there for the next 4 years before growing to be smolt. At
this
phase, those individuals make significant transformations from living in the freshwater to the marine area, where they live for approximately 5 years before entering the next phase. Once the transformation to an adult has been completed, they will go back to old places when they were still eggs to give birth to the next generations.
Through the life cycle, the fishes experience a lot of changes in their length from 3 to 8 cm at the fry stage to 70-76 cm in the adult stage. Normally, a smolt could be found with the size falling between 12 and 15 cm.Submitted by dinhthong1902 on
