The line graph depicts the total number of citizens
along with
the rate of birth and death in England and Wales over the span of three centuries.
Overall
, the population size generally rose over the years with the scarcest value at 1700 and the highest at 2000. Meanwhile, the trend remained constant for the two rates, increasing to a peak around 1750-1800 and then
falling until 1950.
At first,
there was an increase, with the populace rising from around 2 million in 1700 to 10 million in 1850. The number of newborns steadily increased from 26 per 1000 and then
plateaued at approximately 37 per 1000 between 1750 and 1800, before falling to the original value in 1850. Simultaneously, the figure for the demise of citizens followed the same pattern. It started at 30 per 1000, then
levelled off at 40 per 1000 before decreasing to about 32 per 1000.
Finally
, from 1850 to 2000, the population quintupled to nearly 50 million. The birth rate slowly decreased before rising again, settling under 34 per 1000 by the end of the study; whereas
the death rate slowly decreased and came to a lull of 20 per 1000 from 1950 onwards.Submitted by Mangalakumaran.sangeetha on
