The bar chart compares the proportion of Australian
males
and
females
in six
age
groups who were physically active in 2010. It can be clearly seen that
males
aged 15 to 24
years
old and
females
aged 35 to 64
years
old have the highest percentage and that the percentage of women doing regular physical activity is higher than that of men for almost all
age
brackets.
According to
the chart, Australian
males
aged 15 to 24
years
old were the only group that exercised more than
females
by roughly 5%, with the figures being 52.8% and 47.7% respectively.
However
, the proportion of
males
aged 35 to 44
years
old dropped to its lowest point at 39.5%,
whereas
the figure for
females
of the same
age
group rose to 52.5%, accounting for the biggest difference of 13%. On top of that, women aged 45 to 64
years
old still took better care of themselves than men of the same
age
range with the differences ranging from 7-10% for both
age
groups. The gap between the figures for women and men who regularly exercised was very close at the
age
group of 65 and above, with the proportion for
males
being 46.7%
while
females
was 47.1%.
