The table illustrates some changes in
population
growth
, average
birth
per woman and
life
expectancy
at
birth
in three different categories of
nations
by their income level from 2002 to 2004.
Overall
, low-income
countries
had the largest
population
growth
as well as
average
birth
in contrast
to the highest-income
countries
with the smallest
although
the former had the shortest
life
expectancy
both in 2002 and 2004. Starting with the lowest income
countries
, the
population
growth
was the largest with an increase of 2% in 2002 and 1.8% in 2004.
In addition
, the average
birth
was
also
the largest at just below 4%
while
the number was slightly higher in 2002 than in 2004.
However
, the
life
expectancy
was the lowest at above 58 in both 2 years. Turning to the graph for high and middle-income
countries
, their trends are relatively similar since the proportion of the
population
growth
for both
nations
was below 1% with the latter being a little higher than the former.
While
the number of average births in middle-income
nations
was around 2, it was 1.7 for higher-income
nations
in 2002 and 2004.
On the other hand
, higher-income
countries
had longer
life
expectancy
with 78 to 78.7
whereas
people in middle-class
countries
were expected to live until 70 in 2004, with a small increase from 2002.
